Haircuts from Marvel's Black Panther Movie

I hope you're as excited as I am to see Marvel's Black Panther movie, premiering Friday, February 16th, 2018.  The movie is going to be beyond dope, and being a barber who loves fades with natural hair textures, I'm super hyped to see this movie in all it's glory.  I predict that this is going to be  Marvel's highest grossing film yet, finally a big budget film done for a minority audience.  Before I get into the the haircuts though, I do want to mention Ruth Carter (@iamruthecarter) and Wale (Ikire Jones)  (@ikirejones) they killed it with the design and styling in the movie, the costumes and clothing are absolutely amazing.  So without further ado, lets get into this blog.

Michael B. Jordan as Erik Kilmonger

Michael B. Jordan as Erik Kilmonger

Michael B. Jordan (@michaelbjordan) is rocking both locs and a fade.  The locs are about medium length and the type of fade he is wearing is a shadow fade.  If you read my other article what is a shadow fade, you would know exactly what I'm talking about.  Also, notice the front edge-up is left very natural, this is always a matter of taste and a personal choice.  There is no rule that says one must always have a crispy edge up, and in the case of flowing locs with a fade, I think it looks great.

Here we can see a side look at Michael B. Jordan, aka Erik Killmonger's haircut.  In this picture we can see that his cut is faded all the way to the skin on the sides.  Which means his haircut is a medium/low skin fade with medium length locs on the top.  Chadwick Boseman's (@chadwickboseman) character is rocking a low, even haircut, pretty much.  The length of the haircut is about a 3 1/2 and is ever so slightly tapered around the edges.  The sideburns would come to a point and stop just below the start of the ear or the corner of his eye if he didn't have a beard, but since he does, they continue right into his well groomed but natural looking beard.  Also notice that his edge-up in the back is squared.

Danai (@danaigurira) and Florence (@florencekasumba) are rocking bald heads, but what I love about this look, is that it accentuates their facial features. Also notice the tattooed hairline that comes to a point in the front, super dope.  I feel like I'm looking at royalty.  Afro futurism at it's finest.  Lupita Nyong'o  (@lupitanyongo) is wearing short locs/twists/bantu knots. I also like the auburn tips that help to highlight the hairstyle.

Daniel Kaluuya as W'Kabi

Daniel Kaluuya as W'Kabi

Daniel Kaluuya's character W'Kabi is wearing a very high skin fade with wave length hair on top.  With a haircut like this, I definitely recommend a strong crisp edge-up, otherwise the haircut looks like a complete mistake.  The front line really brings the haircut together.  I'm really diggin the tribal facial markings and his wardrobe, again shout out to Ruth Carter for that.  Daniel Kaluuya is an actor on the rise. By the way, I loved the episode he's featured in on Netflix's Black Mirror. Also, if you missed the movie Get Out, please stop reading this and go watch it, then come back and thank me in the comments section.  He killed it in that movie and it's one of my favorite films of all time.

Winston Duke as M'Baku

Winston Duke as M'Baku

Winston Duke's Character M'Baku is one of my favorite characters in the entire movie, he's a powerful no nonsense type of guy.  Everything about him is a display of power.  This haircut reminds me of Wesley Snipes in Blade, however this cut has a few subtle nuances that you might miss.  The edge up in the front is groomed but natural.  The top is left a bit nappy, and is highlighted with an auburn color.  The sides are not faded at all, and a very strong line is left, creating a nice mohawk shape.  I like really like this haircut, I suggest that you fade the sides if you are going to rock something like this.  It's a really nice style.  I imagine Winston Duke at the red carpet with the faded version of this haircut wearing a nice blue suit, and an African print tie.

For now my good friends, I'll wrap it up with this picture.  Look at all the fades, braids, locs, mohawks, and twists in this picture. This is a barber's dream right here.  I love everything about this picture.  I hope you all can go and check out this movie and pay attention to all the wonderful details.  Hopefully this movie can be an inspiration for you, it's already been one for me and I haven't even watched it yet. (update, I've seen it.)  Thanks for taking time out of your busy lives to peep this article as well.  Don't forget to like, comment, and share this article, and if you have any reasonable questions be sure to ask. Until next time, I'm out like a fat kid playing dodgeball.
