Inspiration is a mirror. It reflects back all of the things you were wishing to do, what your soul has been yearning for, sometimes what you have been afraid of. I came across the 26 year old San Diego native via instagram. I stumbled upon one of her quotes.
From there I was intrigued and that intrigue led me to Stranger Things, a book she had written in a poet like fashion. An easy read overflowing with wisdom, a compelling page turner, that is filled with the common sense of elders, yet resonates well with young readers.
I was able to ask Delicia a few questions here is an excerpt from the interview.
"I believe it is extremely important for us all to support one another, as artists, as young people, and as people of color. Art is an extension of who we are and a snapshot of what we experience in a given place or time. It is a privilege to take in someone else's experience and story. And in this day and age, we are all we got, so it's important to share a sort of comradery with our peers."
So here we are Freshly Faded × Delicia Rashad rebuilding our community, defying stereotypes, redefining who we are. Creating and cultivating our Renaissance. Join the movement!
